A free workshop teaching a Border morris dance takes place at Thringstone Community Centre on Saturday, 25th April

Here’s your big chance to have a go at our National dance!  We’re running a one-off Border morris dancing session which will teach an easy to learn dance for any number of participants – in fact the more the merrier!
You don’t need any experience as we’ll be teaching the dance from scratch under the guidance of members of Bare Bones, one of the local Border morris sides.

The workshop is FREE and takes place at

Thringstone Community Centre

Thringstone, Leicestershire

Saturday, 25th April

2.00 pm – 4.00 pm.

Everyone who takes part will be invited to perform the dance at the Folk On The Farm May Day Revels which take place on Friday, 1st May.

Do I Need A Hanky?
No!  Morris dancing in one form or another has been around for centuries.  The hanky type is Cotswold morris. Border morris is much more energetic and colourful!
It makes good use of sticks, bells, feathers, ragged jackets and face paint, but you won’t need any of that to take part in our workshop!
All you will need is a pair of good trainers, a bottle of water and plenty of enthusiasm!

Here’s a bit of video to give you an idea of what we will be doing – it shows Loughborough Border side, Bare Bones dancing at Oxford joint day of Morris.
