THE WHISTLERS OF LOUNT
Halloween Walk
Saturday 17th October, 11.00 am
Who or what were the Whistlers of Lount? Don your walking boots and join us for a spine-tingling stroll through the Newbold countryside, where the past and present collide in an intriguing web of historical fact and the nebulous yarns of folklore hearsay.
Beneath the fields, woods and footpaths lies a long and shadowy mining history, but also the remnants of an agricultural past still clearly visible in ancient hedgerows, woodland and trackways.
Along the way you'll hear tales of the men who worked the old pits, the folklore handed down through generations and a few ghostly stories to make even the most hardened sceptic think!
What to expect:
- Local mining history including sites of early bell pits
- Seasonal folklore
- Ghostly tales linked to the area
Meet: The House of Bombadil, Bushwell Farm, Melbourne Road, Newbold Coleorton, Leics. LE67 8JH
Cost: £10 per person
Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. Come along if you dare!
