MEASE AND SENCE NOON COLUMN WALK

Mease & Sense Valley Noon Column

This walk begins and ends at Grange Wood in South Derbyshire.

(Please note, this is nowhere near Sence Valley Country Park, Ibstock!)

There is a small car park (Grid Ref: SK265.143) in Grange Wood which is situated on the right-hand side of the minor road leading from Overseal to Coton in the Elms. The postcode DE12 8BG gets you pretty close but is for Grangewood Farm, which is just along the road on the same side.

Directions to Noon Column: From the car park go through the large gate and follow the broad grassy ride walking directly away from the road. The ride gently swings to the right and within 3 or 4 minutes you will see the Noon Column on your left.

The walk is approximately 4.5 miles. A gentle climb along broad grassy rides through beautiful woodland, crossing a disused railway line and touching the edge of the village of Linton. The return journey crosses arable land and descends, back on the other side of Grange Wood.

Refreshments: Conkers, Waterside (DE12 6GA) on way back in to Ashby (cafe open to general public during the week in term time).
