NEEDWOOD AND SOUTH DERBYSHIRE NOON COLUMN WALK

Needwood & S Derbyshire Claylands Noon Column

This Noon column walk begins and ends at Jackson’s Bank car park.

Jackson’s Bank car park (Grid Ref: SK139.232) is situated in woodland on the right-hand side of the minor road (off A515) leading from Newchurch to Hoar Cross.

The walk is 5 miles and a little hillier than the other walks with approx. 15 stiles to negotiate but well worth the effort. The walk begins in woodland, follows a permissive path along the edge of a small airfield via a fairly new woodland plantation and crosses some lush pasture land. It then wends its undulating way back into more woodland from where it climbs steadily back to the Noon Column.
