Our third walk begins and ends at Jackson’s Bank car park.
When: Wednesday, 28th June, 2017
Meet: 10 am in the car park – the noon column is adjacent to the car park. We are planning to sing here and leave fairly promptly aiming to return to the Noon Column for 1 pm to make our observations of the sun.
Parking: Jackson’s Bank car park (Grid Ref: SK139.232) is situated in woodland on the right-hand side of the minor road (off A515) leading from Newchurch to Hoar Cross.
Walk: 5 miles and a little hillier than the other walks with approx. 15 stiles to negotiate but well worth the effort. The walk begins in woodland, follows a permissive path along the edge of a small airfield via a fairly new woodland plantation and crosses some lush pasture land. It then wends its undulating way back into more woodland from where it climbs steadily back to the Noon Column.
Refreshments: Lunch at Byrkley Garden Centre, Rangemore (DE13 9RN)
