Roots Community Singers’ Shanty evening proved one of the most successful events in the choir’s history with tickets selling out almost two weeks ahead of the event!
More importantly the evening proved great fun for both the choir and guests who were able to exercise their vocal cords on a wide range of watery songs including well known sea shanties and one or two lesser known ditties.
Held at Thringstone Community centre on Saturday, 11th March the evening began with a set from the full choir followed by sets from two sub groups … The Jolly Jacks and the Saucy Sals! Most of the choir were in some form of nautical attire including a scattering of swashbuckling pirates which added to the fun.
