Roots Community Singers at Ashby Arts Festival

ROOTS Community Singers will be taking their music to the by-ways of the Midlands this summer in support of an exciting new initiative to celebrate the momentous achievement which is the National Forest.

Wayfarers All is the title of an album of original music and song which is in the process of being compiled by Mark Knight whose band Green Fortune is well-known in the area and along with others, will also feature on the CD.

To flag up interest in the album, members of ROOTS will walk the 75 miles of footpaths which make up the National Forest Way singing as part of their set the three songs included on Wayfarers All.

Starting at the National Arboretum Centre near Alrewas on the 15th June the choir will sing at prominent points along the Way before ending with a Grand Picnic and sing at Beacon Hill to coincide with the Summer Solstice, 21st June.

Anyone is welcome to join in the walk at any stage by ringing the organiser, Ruth Gillespie: 07753 149959.
