Calling All 60s Folk!

It was the age of flower power, free love, bell-bottoms, mini-skirts, John Lennon specs, happenings and acid trips.  We were against war, capitalism, materialism, totalitarianism and probably everything else that ended in ism!

The times indeed were a-changing which is probably why so much great music came out of the sixties and is the reason the Folk On The Farm community choir is holding a special, “one off” session of sixties songs.  Amongst others, we’ll be doing Dylan, Tom Paxton and Gordon Lightfoot.

Sing The Sixties takes place in the Folk On The Farm garden, (Bushwell House, 7 Melbourne Road, Newbold, Coleorton, LE67 8JH on Saturday, 14th April, 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm.  (If the weather is wet or particularly cold, we’ll relocate to Newbold Primary school).  Cost £10.

The session is open to anyone of any ability.  You don’t have to be a regular member of the Folk On The Farm choir, neither do you have to have any musical ability!

All songs are arranged in 3 and 4 part harmonies and are taught by our choir master singing out the lines for singers to sing back.  It is a surprisingly quick way to learn new songs especially for those who are not used to singing.

There’s no need to shake out your, (or your parents), flares, mini-skirts or kinky boots, these are not compulsorily!  The ability to have some fun is!
