The run up to Christmas saw Roots Community Singers out and about in the district performing at a wide variety of gigs and events.
Starting with a bang the group performed twice in one evening beginning with the Christmas lights switch on at The King’s Arms Coleorton and then moving on to the Sir John Moore School, Appleby Magna to help launch the Wayfarers All CD.
The album consists of original music and songs which celebrates the National Forest and its Long Distance footpath.
Other gigs included performances at Newbold school Christmas Fair, Carols round the tree at the Cross Keys, Newbold and the main event of the season, Festive Folk at Worthington church.
This was held in aid of Hospice Hope and raised £351 for the new day care centre which will open shortly at Griffy Dam.
